On July 7, 2020, former Vice President Joe Biden won the Democratic primary and President Donald Trump won the Republican primary. The primaries, originally scheduled for April 28, were first postponed to June 2 in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Democratic candidates have won Delaware in each of the last seven presidential elections. The last Republican candidate to win Delaware was George H. W. Bush in 1988.[1]
